The Society of Jesus, founded in 1540 by St. Ignatius of Loyola, has a long and distinguished tradition in higher education and in a wide range of other institutional and apostolic works including secondary schools, retreat houses, parishes, and many forms of service to those in material and spiritual need.鈥�
