Biography

A Midwest transplant to the Pacific Northwest, Leah is a storyteller, theatre director, arts educator, and producer. Locally, she has directed for Strawberry Theatre Workshop, ħ¶¼×ÊÔ´Íø Shakespeare Company, Sound Theatre Company, Pony World, ħ¶¼×ÊÔ´Íø Public Theatre, Intiman, UW School of Drama, and Cornish College of the Arts, among others. Leah is committed to the power of theatre and story as a catalyst for community creation, a vehicle for joy and inspiration, and a space where we are invited and challenged to imagine sustainable social change and a future worth building. Leah is the founding Artistic Director of Bread & Roses Theatre Company, a touring troupe of storytellers, rabble rousers, and clowns that believe sharing stories builds community, the collective experience of joy is essential to thriving, and that we begin by meeting people where they are. Bread and Roses bridges barriers to create and offer live theatre performances for and with audiences in transitional housing spaces, emergency shelters, recovery sites, community centres, and public libraries throughout the region. Leah holds a BA in Theatre Arts and a BA in Theology from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, and an MFA in Directing from the University of Washington School of Drama.
